Course Outline – The course has 10 modules that contain multi-media platforms, i.e., live recorded lectures, PowerPoint slides, activities (exercise and cooking demos) and a panel discussion, to further enhance your learning.

  • Sleep Fitness: Learn the practical importance of quality, uninterrupted sleep; the consequences of the lack of sleep; and strategies for a better sleep routine, i.e., outstanding sleep.
  • Nutrition and Gut Health: Learn how to “let food be thy medicine”; and enjoy a Mediterranean-based recipe with an accompanying cooking demonstration.
  • Hormonal Balance: Learn the global importance of hormones on the entire body of both men and women, now and during all seasons of life.
  • Body Movement: Learn the concept of “smart exercise”; the appropriate resource requirements for effective and safe exercise programs; and what the best exercise is.
  • Financial Health: Learn how intimately all of the tenets are interwoven, particularly issues surrounding money and finances.  Develop strategies to maintain your financial ship. Incorporate proven steps to create a better situation….remember today is tomorrow’s yesterday.  Fail Forward.
  • Course Conclusion: With this uniquely informative and added-value course we hope that you will start to implement these 10 Tenets with the understanding that 1 or 2 small sustainable steps will suffice (66 days for a behavior to become a habit).

  • Earned Doctor of Medicine degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, 1984; completed Ophthalmology Residency, 1993 and    Fellowship training in Cornea and Refractive Surgery, 1994 at the LSU Eye Center, both institutes in New Orleans, LA.
  • Complimenting her medical education, Dr. Pendleton received continuing education from Tulane’s Institute for Culinary Medicine, 2014 and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, 2015 in New York City, NY.
  • Her passion is for patient education at the individual and community levels.

 John J. Ward, M.D.

  • Earned Doctor of Medicine degree from LSU Shreveport School of Medicine, 1981; completed Orthopedic Surgery Residency, 1987 and Fellowship training in Orthopedic Surgical Oncology, 1988 at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, AL.
  • Complimenting his medical education, Dr. Ward has a strong background in the fundamentals needed for an active and physical lifestyle.  He believes body movement is a key component to a long and productive life.
  • His passion is to educate individuals and our community on the importance of healthy living.
